The Department of the Gard stretches from the wild and beautiful mountains of the Cevennes across the Rhone valley and sweeps down to the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. Offering opportunites to experience a great variety of scenery and lifestyles.

Discover one of the small, stone built, medieval villages that dot the hillsides amongst vineyards and fields of sunflowers. Explore a sophisticated Roman or Medieval town. The Gard is immensely rich in historical sites dating from pre-Roman times and the turbulent Middle Ages.

The surrounding countryside is enormously varied, bathing in a special quality of light similar to that of Tuscany, and enjoying an average of 320 days of sun a year.
