    Wine regions

Wine is everywhere. Any journey will take you past acres of vines, scores of wine domains and produits de terroir.

Very close to the house is the Domain Remejeanne. The cave is as fantastic as the wine and the welcome is unrivalled. Not only is there wine but you can also purchase olive oil and jam.

The wine here is some of the best in the area, having had very good reviews in Robert Parkers Wine Guide. Remejeanne is in the process of converting to organic certification. And, it has recently been served to Nicolas Sarkozy when he dined in Avignon.

Your own discoveries will make the holiday special. Please send us a note of them so that we can share them with others.

    Cotes du Rhone

Mas de Cadignac is on the Cotes du Rhone wine trail.

This site gives details of many local wine domains with tastings. Very close to the house is CHÂTEAU BOUSSARGUES. The tatsings are in the cave of a stone-built castle! The owners are very hospitable and will let you view the 12th century chapel and Roman remains. The wine is fantastic too! English speaking and pure local fruit juice for children.

If you enjoy organic wines CHÂTEAU DE BASTET and DOMAINE DE GRAILLEFIOT are very superb. Domaine De Graillefiot is well worth the journey. Directions are in the house.

In Saint Nazaire DOMAINE DES CEDRES is organic and really worth the trip.

DOMAINE HERBOUZE, close to Saint Alexandre, was built at time of the French Revolution. Monsier Herbouze produces excellent wine and was the supplier of M&S's organic Cotes des Rhone and UK-based Vintage Roots. A very friendly English speaking man who will let you explore his ancient cave, explain the wine making process and let you try the wines in different states of maturation in his farmhouse. His dog Gypsy Girl loves children.

The Rose of Lirac is rightly famous and on the way to Nimes.
